David & Judy Cox have a passion for making people smile.
While involved in church drama festivals, they saw many clown perfomances that influenced their lives. Those colorful characters
really made people smile.
In 1993 they ventured into
the world of clowning, discovering they had what clowns call, "a clown's heart."
They sharpened their clown skills by attending classes and workshops. These included
their church, the South East Clown Association, and World Clown Association. They have furthered their knowledge by attending
classes led by well-know clowns such as "Frosty" Little, "Buttons" McBride, "Mama Clown" Murad,
"Bubba" Sikes, "Pricilla Mooseburger," and many others.
They have attended magic workshops
under well-known magicians such as David Ginn, Samuel Patrick Smith, Dave Risley, Steve Taylor, and Duane Laflin.
Initially they worked as non-commercial
clowns. In 2001 they formed Funny Business, entertaining with skits, comedy magic, balloon sculpting, and face painting.
In addition to birthday parties, Funny Business characters have worked for corporations
such as Raytheon, DRS, Harris, Rockwell Collins Avionics, Boeing, and Health First Health Systems. They have also worked for
car dealerships, banks, fairs, festivals, schools, and restaurants.
Training
has involved not only education sessions at conventions and performance festivals, but also at Clown Camp/University
of Wisconsin, Mooseburger Clown Arts Camp, Advanced Clown Arts Camp, and Comedy Magic Workshop.
